Substitute Teacher – Two Rivers Public Charter Schools (Washington, DC)

Spur, a digital staffing agency , is seeking dedicated and professional Certified Substitute Teachers for Two Rivers Public Charter Schools in Washington, DC .

Position Overview

The ideal candidate is passionate about education , enjoys working with students, and is committed to maintaining a structured and engaging learning environment . Substitute teachers are expected to be punctual, professional, and adaptable , following the school’s policies and procedures while managing the classroom in the absence of the regular teacher.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement pre-planned lessons provided by the classroom teacher.
• Assign and collect classwork and homework .
• Maintain classroom control and discipline , ensuring a positive learning environment.
• Take attendance according to school procedures.
• Provide daily reports on student behavior, participation, and progress.
• Set up and operate basic classroom technology as needed.
• Follow all school rules and procedures to maintain a safe and supportive atmosphere.
• Perform other assigned duties to support student learning.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Friendly, professional, and approachable attitude .
• Flexible availability , with the ability to work on-call .
• Previous experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. as needed.
• Strong classroom management skills and ability to adapt to different grade levels.

Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:

• Associate’s Degree
• 48 advanced credit hours from an accredited institution
• Passing score of 461 on the ParaPro Assessment

Additionally, candidates must provide:

• Tuberculosis (TB) test results
• Washington, DC background check
• Reference check and employment history verification

Compensation & Schedule

• $140.00 per day
• Must be available to work Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Hours vary by location).
